What is necessary to follow Jesus Christ?

What is necessary to please Almighty God Jehovah? How can we get a reward from Jehovah ? How can we feel all the more joy, happiness and satisfaction?
What is necessary to follow Jesus Christ? What is necessary to please Almighty God Jehovah? How can we feel all the more joy, happiness and satisfaction?
To follow Jesus Christ, it is necessary to find and go the way, which leads to everlasting life. Jesus Christ described 2 ways, which are different. Only one of these ways leads to everlasting life: “(Matthew 7:13, 14) “Go in through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are finding it.”
To find this way is necessary to follow Jesus Christ. And if somebody wants to follow Jesus Christ on the way to everlasting life, it is also necessary to go continuously this way.

Exert yourselves vigorously

Jesus said: “(Luke 13:24) “Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to get in but will not be able.”
Every follower of Jesus Christ need to exert themselves. Why is this important? Jehovah God could completely relieve every Christian of the need to exert themselves to fight imperfect tendencies. Why does Jehovah God not do so? Because then the support of Jehovah’s sovereignty and any claim of loyalty would be meaningless!

Godly qualities are needed to please Jehovah God

To fight imperfect tendencies is important to please Jehovah God. For example we can read in God’s word, the Bible, in Colossians 3:12 “Accordingly, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience.” And we can read in the Bible, in second Peter 1:5-7 “For this very reason, put forth all earnest effort to supply to your faith virtue, to your virtue knowledge, to your knowledge self-control, to your self-control endurance, to your endurance godly devotion, to your godly devotion brotherly affection, to your brotherly affection love.”

Why put forth all earnest effort

In order to please Jehovah God. Jehovah expects us to fight our imperfect tendencies. And to work hard to control our feelings and thoughts. Read for example in the Bible Romans 8:5-8 “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit, on the things of the spirit. For setting the mind on the flesh means death, but setting the mind on the spirit means life and peace; because setting the mind on the flesh means enmity with God, for it is not in subjection to the law of God, nor, in fact, can it be. So those who are in harmony with the flesh cannot please God.”

Almighty God Jehovah: willing to forgive but expects us to put up a strong fight against…

We should not think that Almighty God Jehovah forgive everything. If somebody is really repentant for his sins, Jehovah God is willing to forgive. But Almighty God Jehovah also expects us to put up a strong fight against any sinful tendencies.

Another good reason for Christians to exert themselves to fight imperfect tendencies

Christians feel all the more joy, happiness or satisfaction if they had put forth all earnest effort to fight imperfect tendencies and make progress to come closer to Jesus Christ and Jehovah God. And realize that the Bible changes their life for the better. Also God Jehovah and also Jesus Christ is pleased with that.

Jehovah God becomes a rewarder

We can read in God’s word, the Bible in Hebrews 11:6 “Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please God well, for whoever approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.” What is another reason why Christians like to fight for what is good. Jehovah God always becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him. All the more so if somebody need to exert himself to fight for what is right.
If we trust in Jehovah with all our heart, Jehovah can make our paths straight: “(Proverbs 3:5, 6) Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, And do not rely on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways take notice of him, And he will make your paths straight.”
We can strengthen our trust in Jehovah, if we make experiences with Jehovah.
And if we remember these experiences in the future.
